Google is ending Verizon’s exclusivity on the Distinctly White Pixel 4a 5G by launching an unlocked edition, as announced by an inadvertent retail listing at the beginning of this month. It retails in four countries for $499 today, with Sub-6 5G connectivity.
There is a mint green power button on this Pixel 4a 5G in addition to the “Clearly White” rear polycarbonate casing. The nearly uniform frame, thicker bottom edge, across the 6.2-inch screen remains black for a subtle two-tone look that separates this budget phone somewhat and gives buyers in the looks department more options.
The Snapdragon 765G is powered by a Pixel 4a 5G with 6 GB of RAM and a 3,800mAh battery. It’s the same processor as the Pixel 5, but in the RAM department it uses the Pixel 4a. The dual-lens design of a 12.2MP rear camera and 16MP ultrawide is the most noticeable resemblance to the flagship. Another main component is the 3.5mm headphone port, though there’s no wireless charging or IP waterproofing.
It lowers the mmWave radio relative to the Verizon model and, as a result, is $100 cheaper. B&H and Amazon already have orders available at $459 until January 31st as of late Wednesday evening/early Thursday morning. Check out the Google Store now.
