Google improves Pixel 5’s GPU Performance massively in the latest update

-

Google has updated the way the Pixel 5’s GPU operates, taking the phone up to a Snapdragon 765G phone standard nearly six months after its release. The Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) security update for April 2021 included a note stating that it includes “performance enhancements for some graphics-intensive apps & games.” Hands-on testing indicates that the update significantly enhances the Pixel 5 GPU, with performance improvements of up to 50% recorded in some apps and benchmarks.

When AnAndTech compared the Pixel 5 to a slew of other Android smartphones earlier this year, it came up short, still lagging behind the three-generation-old Galaxy S10 series and, more specifically, the LG Velvet with some scores falling short by nearly half.

Besides, Google claims that certain third-party applications for the Pixel 5 and 4A 5G should receive “camera quality improvements.” There’s also a workaround for the Pixel 4 and 5’s startup freezing error, as well as a fix for the Pixel 3 and 4’s missing home grid settings.
