For a brief about the device, the Pixel 4a 5G came out on November 5, 2020, with Android 11 on board. Clean Android from Google is most welcome. As for the specifications, the device came with Snapdragon 765G 5G SoC, along with a 60Hz 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with HDR support. For storage, we have just 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, and 6GB of RAM. As for the camera, Google has added a 12.2MP sensor with OIS, and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor.
It does come with a headphone jack, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5, and WiFi 5 as well. Things that it misses out on are microSD slot and Radio. The device was launched at the price of $500.
In comparison to the Pixel 5, the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a plastic back, a 60Hz display, and no IP rating.
Pixel 4a 5G – still relevant?
As of today, the device runs on Android 12, with full Material You support. Moreover, Google always provides 2 years of major and 3 years of security updates, so as of now, one more major update will be made available for the device.
The camera does still works great, same sharpness, same clarity, etc.
And is it still relevant? Well, yes. Only if you care about more software updates and have a bigger budget, it will be better to skip this device, else, you can have this device for under $500 today as well. Or you can also have this device as a spare device.
